Hen Parties in Doncaster

I went on Becki's hen do a a few years ago in Doncaster and this is what we got up to....

Hotels in Doncaster

There are a few hotels in the town centre - namely The Mercure, The Premier Inn and The Regent. The Earl is a slightly longer walk out of the town centre but it is handily placed half way between the town centre and the racecourse. They've had a new refurb too. Would you like to book a hen party at any of these hotels? Then drop me a line to help@henpartyhelp.co.uk and I will try and negotiate you a discount!

Getting to Doncaster

Donny has a major train station (most people will say that they have passed through Doncaster on the train!) and it only takes 1 hour 40 minutes to get there from London. There is also Doncaster Airport (or to give it it's correct name Doncaster Sheffield Robin Hood Airport!).

Saturday day - Doncaster races

A great idea for a hen do is a day at the races -  there are racecourses all over the UK. For a fixture list to see if there's one on the date of your hen do, check out www.britishhorseracing.com then go to "fixtures and results", and then "download fixtures".

Get dressed up – go to a day meeting and get badges for the members’ enclosure (prices range from approximately £25 to £45 each). If you're hen do-ing in Doncaster, you may want to consider the Leger Race Week in September (which also has a special day called Ladies' Day - usually on the Thursday) but this is more expensive and gets extremely busy – tickets definitely need to be booked in advance. One nice touch (and if you have time) is to make up a racecard as if all the hens are horses in one of the races. You can call the Hen the firm favourite and then write a hilarious couple of lines about all the other fillies in the race. This can be a good ice breaker - and if you use photos it can help people to identify who's who!!

A guide to betting

Other ideas for a Doncaster hen do

How about treating yourself and the hens to a day in the spa? A bit out of Doncaster is a lovely spa called Ye Olde Bell. Or how about a pampering pyjama party at the Mount Pleasant? This hotel is out of town but I like their idea of a pampering pyjama party if you fancy the night in (a hotel).

Saturday night - dinner and dancing

So after a few drinks at the racecourse, and a few of the party backing some winners, we got a cab into town (about £5 - it's not far at all). There are a few restaurants to choose from in Doncaster, and we'd booked in to one called Relish for our dinner in the evening. It was quite busy with race go-ers but the food was lovely and the service great. We were a party of 18 and we didn't need to pre order the food.

After dinner, we had a short walk to Manana Manana in Lazarus Court where we had cocktails and managed to bag a sofa. By this time, the numbers were dwindling and think we were down to about 10. I didn't make Mananas,  but there are a couple of nightclubs to suit different tastes. All the pubs and clubs in Doncaster are a short walk away from each other - so you just need to worry about getting taxis home at night if you're not staying in the town centre.
