Hen Parties in Birmingham

Ella from Coventry was bridesmaid for Liz and she has shared the following story with us....

The brief was a classy one night hen do - drinking, eating and dancing within a reasonable budget. We sent the bride to be out shopping for the morning with strict instructions not to return before 3pm whilst we, with her keys, decorated her house and set up drinks and nibbles. When she returned we had fizz and nibbles in the garden (thankfully it was a lovely day).

She was then summoned inside for a "This is Your (Single) Life" presentation by me and my fellow bridesmaids.

PowerPoint Presentation

Prior to the day we had sourced lots of photos from the past 29 years and loaded them into a PowerPoint presentation which (having borrowed a projector) we beamed onto the wall accompanied by a humourous (!) commentary.

At the end she was presented with a book full of the photos and messages from all her friends (we'd got everyone to arrive at the house at least half an hour before the bride did so that they could write these and stick them into the book).

The Hotel

We got picked up by a couple of minibuses at about 5.30pm to travel to Birmingham (about 20 mins down the road). We stayed here at the Burlington Hotel in central Birmingham - we'd booked quite a long time in advance and got a good deal working out at about £40 per head (sharing rooms) for B&B. Hotel was a cut above budget hotels with the added advantage of a late bar which was still open when we returned in the small hours.

Dinner and nightclubbing!

After a quick change, we had cocktails in a nearby bar and then went on for dinner at Locanta Italian restaurant. Afterwards we went for dancing at the Jam House - thoroughly recommended for more grown up clubbing (over 21s only) - tickets booked in advance ensured that we walked straight in.
