Posted by Lisa Shaw on Monday, July 23, 2012 In : General
Are you aged between 18 and 25 and going on a hen party in either August or September of this year? If so, are you willing to help out a film maker for a documentary being made called "My Girls"? Mary Newnham from London is looking for young women who are getting ready to go on a hen do anywhere in the UK in Autumn 2012. This is an exciting opportunity to be filmed and would provide you with a record of your hen party.

If you're interested, please contact Mary directly on mary_lou3@hotmail.co...

A thank you poem

Posted by Lisa Shaw on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 In : Hen Party Poems
Quite a few people are looking for "thank you for coming on my hen party" poems!!

This is a really nice idea. As the bride to be you could either read out a poem of thanks on the actual night itself (wouldn't it be funny if one of your hens has written a poem for you too...!) or you could send out a poem either to your bridesmaids to say thank you for organising a fab hen party or to everyone to say thank you for coming.

If you'd like help writing one then do drop me a line. My email address is...

Poems for all occasions

Posted by Lisa Shaw on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 In : Hen Party Poems

I've written several hen party poems this week for people and have had some really lovely feedback.

One girl wrote "Thank you so much Lisa, I love it."
Another wrote "I think it's brilliant - thank you!"

Check out some example verses I've written on the poems page of this website.

After sending her a poem, one girl wrote back to me and said (and I swear I'm not making this up...)

"Ah wow, that is super. I'm so overwhelmed, you're a very clever lady!!! It's fantastic....Do you only do Hen Part...

Hen Party Games

Posted by Lisa Shaw on Sunday, July 1, 2012 In : Games

A few people have asked me about good hen party games. I have some suggestions here - and also a link to a great website that is full of ideas of games for a hen do.

How about a Mr and Mrs quiz for the bride to be? Read my earlier blog post for some inspiration for questions.
http://www.henpartyhelp.co.uk/blog/mr-and-mrs

"Would you rather" is also quite amusing. I actually bought a box game of this quiz ages ago and it's billed as "The Game of diabolical dilemmas!" It's basically a set of ver...

Hen party T-shirts

Posted by Lisa Shaw on Friday, June 29, 2012 In : General
One good way of making sure you stand out in a crowd on a hen do (and also that you don't lose anyone!) is to have your own hen party t-shirts made.

This can be a fun way to make everyone feel part of a special occasion. But how do you go about getting them? One firm I've heard good things about is www.troublemakerclothing.co.uk. They have a range of hen and stag designs which are fully customisable - they are able to do designs from scratch or you can choose from their range. All you need to...

Hen party at the races

Posted by Lisa Shaw on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 In : General

A hen do watching horse racing can be great fun! Get yourself dolled up, grab yourself a member's ticket, drink some champagne and have a flutter or two.

Here's a few tips for anyone who is planning a hen party at the races.

When and where?
First of all either choose a date you want to go or a racecourse you'd like to visit. Then check if there is a meeting on the day you want to go. Good websites to check out the fixture list for racing are http://www.racingfixtures.co.uk/ and http://www.brit...

Hen party in London

Posted by Lisa Shaw on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 In : London

Kate (originally from Norfolk but now living in London and Abu Dhabi!) helped organise the hen party for her friend Caroline, and this is what they got up to....

"Thanks to Hen Party Help, I managed to arrange a fabulous weekend hen do in London for my best friend from University. We have known each other for years so it was easy to know what she would and wouldn't like, but organising 20 people was slightly more difficult!

Many of us were London based so we decided to reduce costs and stay clo...

Vinopolis

Posted by Lisa Shaw on Sunday, June 3, 2012 In : Tips
I'm just back from a lovely wedding near Cambridge (congratulations Mr and Mrs Coney!) and chatting to one of the guests about this site she told me what she did for her hen party and it sounded great.

They went to Vinopolis in central London (the nearest tube is London Bridge) where they enjoyed some wine tasting and also some pampering. Apparently, after enjoying some fizz, there was a room they went into where they all had a manicure.

On researching this, I came across something very exciti...

What to write in a hen party book

Posted by Lisa Shaw on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 In : Hen Party Poems

Quite a few people are asking about hen party books and what messages they should write in them. This is quite a toughie as I guess you want the message to be fairly short and quite sweet (without being too sickly!) but also personal to the bride to be.

I would suggest thinking about one or two key moments that you and the hen have shared and definitely write about them. Is there one particular memory that always come to mind when you think of her? Dancing around the living room and playing S...
